Look of the Day: Corduroy Baby Doll Dress

I just love this dress. I don't wear it often enough. I'm not a huge fan of corduroy, but sometimes you find that one piece that goes against all your style rules.

Long Weekend: The Oregon Coast

A couple weekends ago, I had the pleasure of spending my mom's birthday down on the Oregon Coast. I'm a little behind, I know, but I took so many pictures on this trip that I've kind of been avoiding the editing process.

Our cabin was in Seal Rock, just a block from the beach and about 8 miles from Yachats; a small town my family has vacationed at for decades. This is the first time I've made it down since high school, though. It's changed, or maybe I'm not just a bored teenager anymore.

There's a really fun rock shop, Planet Yachats, that may or may not have been there the last time I went. The shelves are full of perfectly organized rock specimens, fossils, and other sorts of mineral-based curiosities. I bought a chunk of malachite, my favorite, and a beautiful crystal pendant. I'll feature it in an outfit post, hopefully, soon.

Tilly got to make a mess with chalk at the Yachats Farmstore, which definitely wasn't there when I was 16. They sell all sorts of cheeses, produce and have a small bar where you can sit and enjoy local ales & meads. Very Pacific Northwest-y. If you ever find yourself in Yachats, make sure you get breakfast at The Drift Inn. Delicious, great prices, and wonderful service. You can get an amazing Eggs Benedict, on homemade English muffins, for $10!

The rest of our weekend was spent enjoying the typical coastal weather and beautiful beaches.

Otto had a blast, except for when he went flying into a tide pool he mistook for solid ground. He was one sad little puppy for about 15 minutes. Then he helped dig a castle moat.

Agate Beach

There were no agates to be found on Agate Beach. Just clay, which was cool in its own way.

Depoe Bay was our last stop for the weekend. I wanted fish and chips, but all the restaurants have some sort of agreement to price everything as high as they possibly can. Tourist towns suck. The view and the pod of grey whales was worth the stop, though.

Look of the Day: Leopard Print Skirt & Pastel Peplum

leopard print, seattle, street style, fleur d'elise, pastel, purple, vintage, coach
This ruffled top I found in the Anthropologie sale is the first purple thing I've ever bought based on the fact that it's purple! It's barely purple, but it still counts right? I love the loose fit and the eyelet detailing. It looks so cute with jeans and all shades of brown and blue.

How would you style it?

Look of the Day: Apricot Leopard

A couple weeks ago I asked for help in choosing between leopard print dresses. The resounding opinion was "Get the apricot!" It came yesterday and was certainly the right choice! It fits perfectly and looks adorable with a denim jacket. Layered under a cropped sweater should work out pretty well, too.

These rhinestone earrings are a little bit more glam than I usually opt for, but they go so perfectly with the pink hues of the leopard print. The drop style is simple enough, too, so the look doesn't get too gaudy.

Look of the Day: Leopard print + flatforms

winter, fashion, red lipstick, fur hat, leopard print, forever 21, catie beatty, fleur d'elise
I'm writing to you from the past. As you read this, I'm most likely on a plane coming back from Houston. We flew down, just for the weekend, to take part in the wedding celebrations of my husband's aunt. I'm sure it was all lovely, but as I am writing to you from the past, I don't know for sure yet.

I do know, for certain, that I will not be wearing this fur hat. It's supposed to be in the upper 70's and most likely quite humid. The Weather Underground says a chance of thunderstorms!

Maybe I will bring these shoes, though. They're better suited for warm weather. I traded in my Forever21 flatforms at Buffalo Exchange for these sweet Gee WaWa flatforms. They're way more comfortable and are made of the softest leather. I wore them out dancing in England, at Heathrow and Keflavic airports, and to my friend's birthday party last weekend. On top of that, I have bad feet, so I can certainly attest to them being comfortable and pretty easy to walk in! I only paid $22, but would happily pay full price for another pair. Preferably, a close-toed version, like these.

Update: I nearly forgot to mention the Thrift Love Link-Up I'm part of! Visit LindsayLiving.com, check out Lindsay's great blog, and see what great thrift store finds other bloggers have styled.

Look of the Day: Cheetah+Neutrals

blonde pixie cut, fall color trends, fall fashion, leopard print, style, look of the day

Not much to say today, mainly because I'm not supposed to be typing. I've developed yet another overuse injury. This time, it's in both of my wrists and thumbs. Must rest! For that reason, I will be skipping the links to blazers, trousers, etc. that are similar to the pieces I'm wearing. If you need help finding something, just let me know!

xoxo, Catie

Leopard-print sandals + striped mini dress

There's nothing like a new outfit. The denim vest is Diesel, but I bought it at Buffalo Exchange. The dress is Forever21 and was under $14, so I bought two. The other dress has green stripes. I think they'll be great for layering come Fall.
I think I'm most excited about the sandals, though. I bought them on the Chictopia Chic Shop. I rarely buy anything by mail order, mostly because I prefer going to stores and actually handling clothes before I buy them. I just think that experience is more enjoyable than waiting for something to come in the mail. Also, you never know if the thing you ordered is gonna be the right fit. The worst though is when the item looks very different from the picture online!
These sandals, however, look even better up-close than they do online! I absolutely love them. They're comfortable, the perfect size, and have a great pony hair-like texture on the toe straps (it looks like real hide, but the site says it's fake). I bought the only pair on Chictopia, but you might be able to find a pair on Chicwish.com
I hope you all have a great weekend!

Look of the Day: layered lemon-lime and stripes

It's been just lovely here. This is my favorite time of year: bright and sunny and not too hot. The rununculus are cheap and plentiful, and I can start wearing fewer layers.
