Look of the Day: Star Top & Neckerchief

Why, hello again! I got what I wished for. It's sunny and almost 70° outside! Certainly not a typical November day, but then again, it is Election Day, so perhaps the sun is getting ready to explode. That way we could just all forget this whole thing. I've only cried a little bit, but I'm sure more tears are in my future. And alcohol.

I don't own a pantsuit, but I thought little stars on navy blue and some red lipstick were nasty-enough. I just can't believe I got the chance to vote for a woman, from a major party, who has an actual chance to be president. It's going to be a crazy night, no matter what the outcome. Here's to a stronger, happier, America!

Lately: Autumn 2016

I hate to start a blog post by talking about the weather, but it affects my posting so much, I can't help it! This October has been the rainiest on record. Boo.

This time last year, I had 4 posts published in October, and was ramping up on Etsy for the holiday season. I noticed the other day that my product views were way down, mainly because I hadn't listed anything new on Etsy. That's when I realized I hadn't gone out to take photos with a real camera (not just my phone) in weeks, resulting in zero new listings and zero blog posts! I'm hoping November is a little drier (or a little snowier?!) so I can take some actual outfit photos!

My favorite accessory right now: the handkerchief.

My newest card features a hand-carved tiger moth stamp. I think I'll carve a whole series.

Taken on a day that was dry enough to bring my camera out.

This is Otto's nervous look. He hates the car.

Look of the Day: White Swing Blouse & Vintage Spotted Pants

This, I've realized, is my favorite top right now. I bought it in the Madewell summer sale and wear it far too often. The crisp white cotton, the swing style, the cropped length; one of those tops that even if it looked absolutely terrible on me, I would still be in love. With the spotted cotton pants, it's just the right amount of quirky.

And, OMG, did you see my new Coach?? I found it at the Goodwill. I've never seen one in this shade. It's like the softest fawn brown leather. My collection is really coming along nicely.

Look of the Day: Denim Shirt Dress & English Tan Coach

street style, vintage fashion, curvy style
Yet another dress I bought with the intention of listing on Etsy, but, instead, have given it a home in my closet. Such a perfect fit in a lovely indigo blue.

Look of the Day: Well, I tried

Ahh, the perfect example of why I rarely shop online. While I like the idea of these culotte pants, in the end, they are not for me. Already, they're a tricky style to pull off, but these ones are especially ill-fitted for my body type. Too short? Too wide? Too olive? Probably all that and more. The important part is that I tried. Tobi sent them to me to for free and I must keep my promises to show them off. Better luck next time!

Look of the Day: Cozy Brown Cardigan and Black Dress

The generous souls over at Tobi recently approached me to do a review of some of their clothes in exchange for free duds. They offer 50% off your first order when you sign up for emails! Pretty sweet deal, especially since most of their styles are more on the minimalist side, which is what I'm into right now. I wanted a dress, but had a bit of trouble finding things that weren't disastrously short. While I love the look of mini dresses on other people, they're not for me. Plus, I wanted something to wear to work. I settled on True Love Strapless Midi Dress and the Snuggly Mornings Cardigan. The dress looks great but is secretly a mini dress. You really can't move without showing off your underwear because the wrap is only secured in one place: above your boobs. It's basically like trying to wear a towel. I might try it with some little black bike shorts on a day I don't have to work. It's just such a pretty style!

The cardigan I love 100%. It's still a little warm to wear it, but at least I know it'll be cozy once the cold weather arrives! I just adore the color, too.
Please note, that while this post is sponsored, all opinions expressed are my own.

Look of the Day: Olive Silk Skirt & Polka Dot Blouse

OMG, tomorrow is my birthday!! I usually throw a relaxed, but large get together down at the beach, but it seemed like too much work. I'll probably regret not getting all my friends together, but sometimes you just don't feel like being the center of attention. Instead, I'm going to have lunch in Ballard, with my mom and sister, then wander wherever I feel like wandering. After all, that's my favorite activity.

Look of the Day: Plaid Shirt Dress & Coach Bucket Bag

By far one of my favorite Value Village finds, this dress makes me feel cool enough to be in Ferris Bueller. I'm now always on the look out for 80s-era plaids similar to this one.

The Coach was in immaculate condition when I found it at Crossroads Trading but of course I've put a few miles on it. It's rare and the cognac leather just a shade darker than the classic English Tan. The minute I saw it on the wall behind the cash register, I knew it was going in the collection. It was a steal at $35!

Look of the Day: Striped Linen Dress & Rust Cardigan

One of my best friends from high school was in town this week, so I took some days off from work and enjoyed a staycation. We went to Golden Gardens on Thursday and, yesterday, had a small potluck with our friends down in Tacoma. Tiana's summer visits are about the only thing I ever plan for during the summer, and they're always special. We've known each other since 3rd grade! It goes without saying, we're pretty comfortable talking about anything. On Thursday, she let me know she wasn't happy with my lack of blog content. I've missed blogging regularly, and I'm happy to have the encouragement.

Tiana, I know you're reading this. I just spent like 3 hours photographing things I've worn over the past couple weeks, so keep an eye out for more posts!

This linen-blend dress is on clearance at Old Navy right now!

Long Weekend: Oakland & Berkeley

Gosh, summer always passes so quickly! It's already been a month since we were in California, and of course, I'm just now getting the photos finished! There are still a few photos to be added, but I haven't posted in so long, I thought it would be good to get at least something up!

The whole weekend was spent wandering around Lake Merrit in Oakland. We ate lots of great food, watched several movies, and generally just bummed about. How lovely it is to go somewhere without having anything set in stone!

On Saturday, we went to San Francisco and Trevor gave me a tour of the neighborhood he lived in last summer. We also ate dinner  at Stuffed, a Polish pierogi restaurant he frequented.

On Sunday, we had brunch at the Thai Temple in Berkeley and met up with my dear friend, Lorea. After brunch, we went to Fourth Street and almost adopted 2 puppies.

If you're ever in Berkeley, you have to pay a visit to Castle in the Air. It's one of my favorite shops of all time. The interior is just magical.
