DIY: Easy Poppy Magnets

You wouldn't think a fridge would need a make-over, but here we are. Mine needed one desperately. Photos and thank you cards from 5 years ago, expired coupons, crappy magnets that don't hold anything up. You get the gist. We even had our marriage certificate buried under drawings by my niece. It was the perfect reason to get crafty.

Whether your fridge needs some brightening up or you're just in a crafting mood, these magnets are a quick project that can be done on the cheap. You can get almost everything you need at the dollar store. Or splurge on some fancier silk flowers from the big craft store in your town. I recommend strong magnets, since the flowers tend to be a bit heavier.

What you'll need:

A couple bunches of fake flowers
1-2 packages of strong magnets
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors

Start by pulling the flowers off their stems. Trim as close as you can. If your blooms start to come apart, you can just glue them together!

Tip: Use a piece of tin foil to protect your work surface from hot glue.

Apply enough glue to securely hold the bloom to the magnet. I would say about 1/8 of a teaspoon. I start by applying the hot glue directly to the center and then circling outwards once or twice. Remember to work quickly! Press it on to the magnet. You can even press the petals into the glue for extra hold. Let cool for a few minutes and your done!

Look of the Day: Black Mockneck & Blue Linen Joggers

My favorite trend of the moment has to be sleeveless mocknecks. Will it make sense in 6 months? Probably not. Will I donate them all back to Value Village by Christmas? Most likely. But for now, I'm digging the minimalist vibe they bring to an outfit.

Look of the Day: Stripes on Stripes

I've been looking for this skirt for approximately 3 years. I finally found it at the Goodwill, but man, it took a long time! There are two lessons here: first, don't expect to find exactly what you're looking for immediately. Most importantly, though, is you can find that perfect piece. And for so much cheaper!

Everything but the sunglasses were found at thrift stores in the past 2 weeks. What's the point of paying full price? Unless, of course, you have the money for everything here.
