Fashion Week Favorites

Here are some of my favorite images (so far) from the Spring 2013 collections and the various fashion weeks around the world:
Jason Wu S/S 2013 (source: Fashion-OCD)

Rachel comey RTW S/S 2013 (source: Lyst.com)

Erin by Erin Fetherston S/S 2013 (source: pinkmemo.com)

These next two are, by far, my favorite. I'm so excited to have discovered Josep Font. His designs are breathtakingly beautiful.

AND here's a picture of me from The Sartorialist...
Just kidding!! It's Elisa Nalin. The glasses and red lips look pretty familiar, though. (source: The Sartorialist)

Color Trends: Fall/Winter 2012

A couple weeks ago the Wall Street Journal had an article in the Off Duty section titled "There Will Be Oxblood." It was their tepid review of NYFW. One thing they pointed out was the prevalence of the color known as oxblood. It's a deep red, and reminds me more of ketchup than oxblood (I'm more familiar with the former).

After pouring through the photos of LFW, I noted some color trends for Fall/Winter 2012. Here is my prediction:
F/W 2012

Orla Kiely

Mulberry

Maria Grachvogel

Mary Katrantzou

Acne

Don't forget the Mac and Cheese! This yellow reminds me of the powdered cheese in those little pouches. It's day-glow delicious! (Seriously though, I love it!)

Bora Aksu

Moschino Cheap and Chic

Jill Stuart- Spring 2011

So far this is the only show I've reviewed from New York Fashion Week, and I have mixed feelings about it.

As much as I loved the neutral shades and gorgeous fabrics I was not a fan of most of the silhouettes. A lot of the outfits made the models look rather boxy and large. I love the feminine shapes that are popular right now and I see glimpses of that trend in this collection, but it seems Jill Stuart has taken her own approach to it. The waists are cinched but the shoulders are wide and breasts completely masked. The shape is there, just way oversize for the svelte models that are wearing the garments. In a way, Jill Stuart has jumped ahead of everyone and the "Mad Men" trend to the 60's with boxy dresses, swing coats, and patent boots.

I really like the following two ensembles. They're very ladylike. Beautiful fabrics, beautiful details, and nicely tailored.

The shoes were another subject I found myself very divided on. I loved the cap-toe pumps and wedges (first picture below), but was completely flabbergasted by the "duck-feet" boots (second picture below).

I'm sorry, but this whole outfit makes her look like a duckling.
