Look of the Day: Oasap Plaid & Printed Luck Clutch

 Hey guys! Winter is finally truly fading away! I can't complain much, since we've had the most mild winter, but truthfully, EVERY TIME I HAVE A DAY OFF IT RAINS! It makes it so hard to shoot anything for the blog. Ugh.

So today, I made sure to shoot three different outfits! It was a little chilly for this one, but maybe I can wear it later in the Spring. Printed Luck sent me the hand-printed pouch. Caroline is the wonderful local artist who runs the site and carves her own designs out of linoleum. She has way more patience then me. Linoleum is so hard to carve! The succulent design is so cute and goes perfectly with the new succulent cards I've been working on.

 The other new item is the plaid shirt I'm wearing. Oasap sent it to me to review. It's ok. I love the pattern and the colors, but the fabric wrinkles very easily and the sleeves run so small. Go for a size up if you end up ordering it.

Look of the Day: Green & More Glasses

Heeey guyz. This week has been rough. Well, last week, too. I'm having a pretty hard time (health-wise), and I'm still not sure if it's something serious. Probably not, but, little fact, I'm a huuuuge hypochondriac, which is why I'm having such a hard time. I've been trying to distract myself with work and blogging, especially since I've been neglecting the outfit posts. So here's the second one of the week! It's that Oasap blouse again. I just love it! The green sweater is also care of Oasap, but I'm not crazy about the fit. Seams that hit at the mid arm are never flattering on me. I keep hoping, though! On the plus side, the sweater is really soft and a fabulous color!

Look of the Day: Plaid Coat & Oasap Blouse

Every season, there are certain pieces I can't stop wearing. This coat is one of them, and this eyeglass patterned blouse from my sponsor, Oasap, is the newest piece. (Not shown: a thrifted Blumarine men's sweater I took off only for these photos. I live in it)

 There's something so graphically pleasing about eyeglass frames.

I just had my haircut refreshed at the Toni&Guy academy here in Seattle (yeah, I get my cut & color done at a school!). The lovely lady who cut my hair, Anita, is quite talented. Of course she's graduating next month! Luckily, she has a blog (So She Did) so I can at least keep in touch, even if I won't be able to afford to get my haircuts from her anymore. She's gonna go someplace fancy and expensive, I just know it.

Look of the Day: Lapis & Marble

This is the perfect time of year. I love it for the same reason I love May and the same reason the fashion world's biggest shows are in Spring & Fall. You have almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to dressing. You can wear sundresses or you can layer up; you can show your legs, if you like, while still feeling cozy in a new sweater. If you love fashion, then this in-between weather is your best friend!

The pieces in this look are both pretty light. They're perfect for now, and when it gets colder, I'll start adding layers over the shirt and closed-toe shoes will help keep my bottom half warm.

If you read my post about my Fall fashion inspiration, you'll know I've been real into rocks & stuff lately. The post on jewel tones actually kind of all started with this marble patterned blouse from Oasap. On the website, they call it "splashed ink", but I immediately thought of marble. I'd been wearing my amethyst necklace all summer and finally put two and two together: I should just go all out! Now I'm looking for a bit of the geode in everything I buy.

Even my watch is fake turquoise. It's pretty neat. Sadly, it doesn't work, so it's mostly just a piece of jewelry. If you're looking for one that actually tells times, I found a few similar to it. This Michael Kors' Channing watch features a turquoise dial face. Kate Spade makes a watch with a vibrant aqua leather band. While it's not stone, it's still just as striking! If you're looking for a steal, this Kenneth Jay Lane watch is on sale for $58 and was originally $250! 

The bag, you ask? Well, it's another vintage Coach! My mom bought it new years ago and, for my 30th birthday, bequeathed it to me. I brought it to my beach party & haven't stopped using it since. I'm in love.

Fall Fashion: 4 Igneous Inspirations

I've never been real big on jewel tones. That term has always brought to mind images of generic office supplies and the worst of 1990's fashion, rather than glittering minerals. Or maybe it's because the jewels that saying refers to are usually totally out of my price range. My inspiration is more semi-precious, but just as gorgeous.

You know, I've also hated on puffer vests so much, my sister questioned whether I was the real Catie when I bought one at Value Village this summer. It's a gorgeously rich forest green. Just the type of thing I'm into right now. Anyway, my point is, never say never. Blah blah blah. Read on for my Fall picks. All in luscious, straight-from-the earth, jewel tones.

1. Malachite & Peridot

Luxe greens are at the top of my list. I've been wearing a silk blouse, similar to this one, all summer. It drapes beautifully and is such a refreshing color. My wardrobe is so full of basics and navy blue, a bright, emerald green has made it a lot more fun to get dressed. I'm also dying for a pair of these French Terry Stockholm Pants from the new Love, Hanna line. The whole collection is right on trend and features the comfortable, relaxed silhouettes that are so hot right now. 

Or if you straight-up wanna look like a giant hunk of malachite you can splurge on this jumpsuit from whit® ann for madewell.

2. Amethyst

And now we come to another thing I thought I'd never like: purple! For years I've had lukewarm feelings about pretty much any shade of purple. I wouldn't ever say I hated it, but it certainly wasn't a top choice. Now, I own the Tocca Jewelry amethsyt necklace seen above and a top very similar to the gorgeous Rachel Comey for Madewell blouse you see below. Very pale shades are my favorite, but I wouldn't say no to this Amethyst Druzy Bracelet. Hopefully they'll get them back in stock!

3. Lapis Lazuli

You just can't go wrong with blue. Especially one as electric as this one. Many languages even derive their word for blue from the name of this stone. If you want a real piece, Kei Jewelry has a beautiful lapis point necklace on Etsy. If jewelry isn't in the budget this season, I would go for these these comfy cinched pants from Old Navy. I bought a pair and can't stop wearing them. They're surprisingly flattering.

4. Marble & Agate

If you're still more a fan of neutrals, but want to add some texture and detail to your wardrobe, go for marbled pieces. Etsy seems to have about a million faux marble iPhone cases. The one I'm really into is the faux agate one pictured above. For a marbled look you can wear, this Oasap blouse is a steal. I just bought one for myself. It's pretty long, but looks awesome with the blue pants I mentioned above! Outfit post coming soon, I promise.

Look of the Day: Dots & Denim

Life has been so busy! I accepted a small promotion at work and, even though I'll still be part time, the training is pretty extensive. It also means my job will be moving to one of the other neighborhoods in Seattle. I nannied there for 4 years, so I'm pretty excited to be back in the old 'hood. It's a nice one; lots of great coffee shops (like the rest of Seattle), upscale gift shops, yet very family-oriented. And I'll be right next to Trader Joe's! I'll never run out of their coffee again!

In other news, I watched like seven hours of X-Files on Friday. It was my one day off.

Oasap let me pick out a few things from their Summer line and I was very excited when this dotted blouse arrived in the mail. I love how random the spots are. It's very fun to wear. I also ordered this sparkly, green and gold bracelet, but I' have had a chance to style it yet.

Look of the Day: Catie Colored

This dress is like camo for me, especially against this apartment building. If only the shadows were more dappled, I would blend right in and my prey would never see me. Maybe I can find a dress without spots and then I would disappear! Even my hair is the same color, haha. My sister-in-law always calls it "Catie colored".

Having much more luck styling the Birks. They look so cute with short baby-doll dresses! It's a great outfit for summer, too.

LWD: One Dress Two Ways

I've been wanting a little white dress for a while, especially one in a classic shirt-dress style. Well, I thought this one from Oasap was adorable. Turns out it would also look adorable on a baby. It is that short. Like, you-can-see-what-I-had-for-breakfast-short. American Apparel bike shorts to the rescue! I've tucked them up for the photos, but at least I have the reassurance that no one will see my underwear when I move my arms or breath.

I found a much more practical way to wear the dress. Under overalls!

 Just tucked it in and no one was the wiser!

 I'm obsessed with both of the bags I featured in this post. Both were found second hand and both have inspired me to look for more bags like them. The straw one has such a lovely pattern and is right in line with the sort of natural, simple look I've been into lately. It pairs perfectly with overalls.

The leather clutch is by Michael Green and is from the time in the 1990s when Coach leather bags were at their most popular. I've seen this brand around for a while and always just thought it was another one of the companies that made Coach-like leather goods, to put it nicely. Well, this clutch said 'Seattle' on the inside, so I looked it up. In 1993, The Seattle Times wrote an article about Michael Green and his wears. The factory was located right on Queen Anne and he sold 35 different styles of bags in Nordstrom and boutiques. I think I will be buying more Michael Green from now on.

Oh! And the glasses! I sold a similar pair on Etsy and completely regretted it. I found this pair at an estate sale recently and decided they were well worth the price, which was a little higher than I prefer to spend at estate sales. Made by American Optical in the 1960s, I think this pair in particular was used for hiking and mountain climbing. The original owner had an extensive collection of backpacking gear, field guides and other various hiking necessities. It's neat to have stuff with a history.

 One last thing. I look so much like my 9 year-old cousin, Josiah, it's unnerving. Just imagine less make-up and more light-saber action.

Look of the Day: Oasap Coat & Vintage Heels

 I've been thinking about this plaid coat from Oasap for 2 months and finally decided it was meant to be mine. There's nothing better than a coat with texture and pattern neutral enough to wear every day. It's bold, but not outlandish and the moto-style asymmetrical zipper makes it oh so cool. My favorite way to wear it is with this neon pink turtleneck from J.Crew, but I can only wear the same outfit so many times before people start noticing. Neon pink is hard to miss.

 If you're a regular reader, then you can probably guess that I only wore these shoes for the photoshoot. I love them, and if I had normal feet I would be keeping them. Instead, they're up for grabs on my Etsy shop! These beige suede heels are minimalist perfection.
