Look of the Day: Striped Linen Dress & Rust Cardigan

One of my best friends from high school was in town this week, so I took some days off from work and enjoyed a staycation. We went to Golden Gardens on Thursday and, yesterday, had a small potluck with our friends down in Tacoma. Tiana's summer visits are about the only thing I ever plan for during the summer, and they're always special. We've known each other since 3rd grade! It goes without saying, we're pretty comfortable talking about anything. On Thursday, she let me know she wasn't happy with my lack of blog content. I've missed blogging regularly, and I'm happy to have the encouragement.

Tiana, I know you're reading this. I just spent like 3 hours photographing things I've worn over the past couple weeks, so keep an eye out for more posts!

This linen-blend dress is on clearance at Old Navy right now!

Look of the Day: Ok, it's a sack

It's just the right amount of shapeless, especially when it's 85 degrees! I found it while thrift shopping, of course. It's made of pin striped chambray and looks so cool over a crop or bandeau top.

Look of the Day: A taste of the tropics

As luck would have it, my day off was sunny, so I spent a good portion of it photographing things for Etsy, like this Hawaiian print dress. I can't wait till it's actually warm enough to wear things like this for longer than 15 minutes.

I almost didn't buy this dress when I found it at the thrift store. It requires me to do a lot of sucking in, but it photographs so beautifully!

Look of the Day: Oasap Plaid & Printed Luck Clutch

Hey guys! Winter is finally truly fading away! I can't complain much, since we've had the most mild winter, but truthfully, EVERY TIME I HAVE A DAY OFF IT RAINS! It makes it so hard to shoot anything for the blog. Ugh.

So today, I made sure to shoot three different outfits! It was a little chilly for this one, but maybe I can wear it later in the Spring. Printed Luck sent me the hand-printed pouch. Caroline is the wonderful local artist who runs the site and carves her own designs out of linoleum. She has way more patience then me. Linoleum is so hard to carve! The succulent design is so cute and goes perfectly with the new succulent cards I've been working on.

The other new item is the plaid shirt I'm wearing. Oasap sent it to me to review. It's ok. I love the pattern and the colors, but the fabric wrinkles very easily and the sleeves run so small. Go for a size up if you end up ordering it.

Look of the Day: Floral School Girl

I was a little wary that this floral blouse might be a bit too loud, but I took the challenge and ordered it. I'm so happy I did! It's just the thing to go under this little dress and goes perfectly with my new polka dot clutch.

This head cold is sucking my energy to write. Some blogger I am! Hopefully I will have more to say next week :/

Ok, maybe I can muster the strength to say one thing. Thank you so much for reading and commenting! As much as I love fashion and blogging, it would be pointless without other people, right? Friends are what make anything worthwhile.

Look of the Day: dusty dior + neon lips

seattle, street style, spring 2013, neon lips, fleur d'elise
Happy Spring! We've had pretty classic Seattle spring weather so far. The sun is blindingly bright one minute and then it's raining the next. Enough about the weather. As tempting as it is to drone on and on about the weather, this is a fashion blog. So let's talk fashion.

I think I've worn this outfit 2 or 3 times now. I really like the combination of colors and textures. I wore it to a Jeeves play at Taproot Theatre in Greenwood. That time I wore it with my MMM for H&M shoes, which, turns out, kill my feet. I will reserve them for special occasions. Luckily, I found these vintage silver shoes at a thrift store, which are pair #3 in my growing collection of silver shoes. Silver is the perfect contrast to the dusty salmon color of my blouse. As uncommon as this color is, I've been lucky to find a few items in it.

The second event I wore this outfit to was the Tarboo pop-up shop on Capitol Hill (the hippest of Seattle neighborhoods). My friend's partner is one half of this local design team, which is how I discovered them. It's about time I start spreading the word: they make amazing and affordable bags. I'm getting this yellow tote bag for sure and plan to get a canvas rucksack in the very near future. If you're interested in a bag, they've got a great deal on Gilt City right now, but it ends in 3 days, so you better hurry!

My clutch was made by my East Coast amie, Laurel. Such a talented and lovely lady, I'm lucky to call her friend. A week from now, I'll be hanging out with her and her husband Jon, celebrating their 2nd anniversary. Well, they'll probably do that before I get there. Here are some pictures from their wedding. Honestly, it was the funnest, most gorgeous wedding I've ever been to. Rivals my own.

Lastly, I just bought this MAC pigment, because I can't seem to find a true neon lip color. Of course, I get it home and it says "Not for use in the eye or lip area." What the heck are you supposed to do with it then? Paint your face à la Ke$ha? The MAC sales person even showed me how to mix it into lip gloss, so I imagine I'm not going to die. Immediately. Would greatly appreciate some input, my dear readers.
