Look of the Day & a Giveaway!

Hi everyone! What a crazy month it's been. I've had some health issues, so I've been resting a lot. Finally getting back into the normal swing of things, and am making sense of a much-needed diet change. Obviously, the blog has been neglected. I'm back, though. I swear!

What I'm wearing:
Long sleeve shirt & track pants from Target, thrifted wool jacket, vintage Coach bag, vintage flats, vintage coral necklace, and a  necklace from some little store at the Olympia Mall.

Anyway, a month ago, I signed up on BrandBacker  to review an eye shadow palette from Paula Dorf. While I've heard of the brand, I don't think I've ever tried it, so I jumped at the chance! They sent me this gorgeous set of sun-drenched colors called Aztec City. I love the blue, but have never been able to pull off this shade, so it goes untouched. Maybe I'll get brave and try it tomorrow. I've tried all the other colors, though! The white and soft mauve are perfect for brightening the inner corner of your lid. The baked clay shade is great for shading the whole lid, and the dark brown is ideal for lining and creating a warm, smokey eye.

The only disappointment is that they're a little powdery, even when I use my good shadow brush. My fix is to not apply my under-eye make-up till after I've done my shadow. If I apply it before I just end up wiping away all my concealer when I'm cleaning up loose powder.

I finished off the look with concealer, brown liquid liner, mascara, and brow tint.

Now for the giveaway part!
One lucky reader will win this Paul Dorf mascara and a little holiday surprise from Fleur d'Elise! The mascara is a rich teal color that compliments any eye color! It's also water resistant and safe for contact lense wearers.

Look of the Day: Leopard Print Skirt & Pastel Peplum

leopard print, seattle, street style, fleur d'elise, pastel, purple, vintage, coach
This ruffled top I found in the Anthropologie sale is the first purple thing I've ever bought based on the fact that it's purple! It's barely purple, but it still counts right? I love the loose fit and the eyelet detailing. It looks so cute with jeans and all shades of brown and blue.

How would you style it?

Look of the Day: Catie Colored

pale peach, vintage coach, Oasap, street style

This dress is like camo for me, especially against this apartment building. If only the shadows were more dappled, I would blend right in and my prey would never see me. Maybe I can find a dress without spots and then I would disappear! Even my hair is the same color, haha. My sister-in-law always calls it "Catie colored".

Having much more luck styling the Birks. They look so cute with short baby-doll dresses! It's a great outfit for summer, too.

Look of the Day: Stripes & Brocade

I'm so spoiled. This week, I got to pick out a bunch of amazing pieces from the racks at Beats & Bohos in Greenwood. I don't get to keep them, but getting to play around with styling them is such a treat! The brocade jacket is one of many treasures from the Foxy Deluxe rack at the shop and the chambray crop top is a new item. It's reversible! I will style it in another post so you can see it.

More looks coming soon!

Look of the Day: Pattern Mixing

Fleur d'Elise, pattern mixing, leopard print, polka dots, fall trends, beret, in style
Fall is in full force. The leaves here are finally changing and I saw it rain, like really rain, for the first time in months. Strangely enough, the sun is back. It confuses my Seattleite brain, but I love it regardless. I've been walking my dog, which is amazing, considering the ordeal I've been through with my feet. I can do so much more now, and it makes me incredibly happy. I can be on my feet for a couple hours before they start bothering me!

Needless to say, I've been packing in activities while the weather is nice. I went for a long walk all over the Madrona neighborhood with my friend Ashley and her darling little boy. I've also been baking (I ate about a dozen pumpkin-pear muffins), painting & crafting, and have started experimenting with homemade fragrance oils. I have sage, coriander, black tea, and coffee steeping in jars of oil. They're all lined up on the window sill. It takes a week for them to fully steep, so I'm not sure if they're going to turn out. Fingers crossed!

I've also been experimenting with my nails. I'm obsessed with gold accents right now, so naturally, a gold-tipped manicure was in order. I found a really easy way to do it with the help of this nail tutorial.

What have you been up to? I hope you're enjoying Autumn as much as I am :)

Fall Favorites: 4 Different Looks

Right around this time of year, inexplicably and without fail, I start getting excited about dressing for Fall. Maybe it's that I'm tired of the heat (if you can call it that in Seattle) or maybe I'm just tired of sandals and shorts. Whatever the case may be, my mind starts wandering and I soon have my Autumn wish list. This year, my main focus is shoes! Now that my feet are starting to feel better, and with fancy new custom orthotics in hand (er, shoe) I have more options! At the moment, my favorite place to drool over shoes is on ASOS. They have a great collection of super stylish, super affordable women's shoes!

For Work
First and foremost: I want more classic flats! I like these ones because they add a bit of texture, but will still go with a lot. I don't really need another vintage Coach, or more stripes, but I am in desperate need of a cocoon coat! It's been on my list for years!

Weekend Getaway
weekend wear

I can't begin to tell you how badly I want a pair of Chelsea boots. ASOS has several different versions, all pretty well priced, considering they're made of leather. Here, I've paired them with a look I would wear on a weekend get away. Most people take their vacation in the summer, but our's is always in the Fall, on account of my husband's busy summer work schedule.

I always save my crazy pants and loud patterns for blogger meet-ups and girl's nights out. My husband doesn't "get it", but I know the ladies will :) These t-strap wedges are so fun and totally different from all the other shoes in my wardrobe.

Night Out

hot date

On date nights, I wear outfits my husband understands: shorter skirts, balanced with more coverage on top, in this case, a great motorcycle jacket from H&M. The leopard print pointed court shoes add another touch of "ooh la la," but the lighter shade of lipstick will keep the look from going too red-light district.

What I Wore: weekend wear

I have been in such a good mood lately! I got custom orthotics, which seem to be helping my feet (may be too soon to tell, but I'm hopeful!) and it's nearly summer. Everything is just peachy!

Speaking of peachy, I just bought the glasses at Forever21, and now I'm not so sure about them. They fold up all weird and may be a little small for my face, but I just love the color! I'll keep 'em around for a while. Oh! And the Coach bag is new! I found it at a garage sale for $5! Pretty good deal.
