Runway to Real Way

You don't have to look too hard to find affordable runway lookalikes. As a matter of fact, you can do it all in one online shopping trip! I found four gorgeous dresses, all from ASOS's dress collection, and all perfectly on-trend for Fall.

L'Wren Scott F/W '12
runway to real way #2

At L'Wren Scott, it was all art deco luxury. Go for rich colors and prints. The ASOS Wiggle Dress in Coloured Wallpaper Print fulfills both of those requirements. Top it off with glittering accessories like ASOS Hyla Strappy Heeled Sandals and the Limited Edition Cameo Brooch 3 Pack

Carven F/W '12

runway to real way: carven fall 2012

The look was almost school girl-esque at Carven. A mini dress, like the Nishe Flower Tapestry Lantern Dress, layered over a white collared shirt looks prim without being too stuffy. Try the ASOS Shirt with Scalloped Collar. For added warmth try a pair of Pieces Knew High Socks or some black tights. Maryjanes are the perfect finishing detail. Try ASOS Pebble Maryjane High Heels.

Jil Sander F/W 2012
runway to real way #1

Jil Sander transported us back to the art deco time period again. Although, this show focused on the geometric simplicity of the art movement. When replicating this look, go for geometric patterns and color blocks in cool blues, grays, and pinks. ASOS's Denim Dress with Chevron Panel is perfect and looks simply chic with the ASOS Prior Pointed High Heels. I couldn't find an oversized coat, like the Jil Sander one, but the ASOS Boyfriend Blazer will look just as good with the dress.

Preen F/W '12
Runway to Real Way: Preen

Preen was one of my favorite Fall collections (see the whole collection here). The foggy grays and apple greens and reds reminded me of early Fall in the Northwest. Crisp and bright and full of life. I happened to find the Full Circle Floral Drape Neck Dress, that is almost exactly like the one seen here at Preen. Pair it with simple accessories like the ASOS Metal Bar Detailed Envelope Clutch and maybe a pair of pearl earrings or some silver bracelets. As for shoes, keep them simple, too. A pair like the ASOS Push It Metallic Platforms would be perfect.

Fall Favorites: 4 Different Looks

Right around this time of year, inexplicably and without fail, I start getting excited about dressing for Fall. Maybe it's that I'm tired of the heat (if you can call it that in Seattle) or maybe I'm just tired of sandals and shorts. Whatever the case may be, my mind starts wandering and I soon have my Autumn wish list. This year, my main focus is shoes! Now that my feet are starting to feel better, and with fancy new custom orthotics in hand (er, shoe) I have more options! At the moment, my favorite place to drool over shoes is on ASOS. They have a great collection of super stylish, super affordable women's shoes!

For Work
First and foremost: I want more classic flats! I like these ones because they add a bit of texture, but will still go with a lot. I don't really need another vintage Coach, or more stripes, but I am in desperate need of a cocoon coat! It's been on my list for years!

Weekend Getaway
weekend wear

I can't begin to tell you how badly I want a pair of Chelsea boots. ASOS has several different versions, all pretty well priced, considering they're made of leather. Here, I've paired them with a look I would wear on a weekend get away. Most people take their vacation in the summer, but our's is always in the Fall, on account of my husband's busy summer work schedule.

Blogging Event
blogger event

I always save my crazy pants and loud patterns for blogger meet-ups and girl's nights out. My husband doesn't "get it", but I know the ladies will :) These t-strap wedges are so fun and totally different from all the other shoes in my wardrobe.

Night Out

hot date

On date nights, I wear outfits my husband understands: shorter skirts, balanced with more coverage on top, in this case, a great motorcycle jacket from H&M. The leopard print pointed court shoes add another touch of "ooh la la," but the lighter shade of lipstick will keep the look from going too red-light district.

spring wish list: illustrated

Clockwise from the left:

1. J.Crew Tippi Sweater $72.50
Great for layering (Spring weather can be unpredictable!) and the perfect preppy piece to pair with all of those crazy florals, which we'll get to later. Check out J.Crew for a million other colors.

2. Cat-Eye Glasses
This is one of those trends that seems to have real staying power. Vogue says it's because of the recession (no one has money to invest in new trends). Regardless, they're pretty awesome and go great with those other trends that don't seem to be going anywhere: 50's and 60's style

3. H&M Chiffon Blouse $49.95
Collars are EVERYWHERE. Classic oxford collars, patterned collars, peter pan collars, beaded collars; everything goes! They're an easy way to add some interest to an outfit. Layer it under your crew-neck sweater (see #1) for insta-prep.

4. M.A.C. Fake Lashes $15
What's nice about the trends this Spring is that they all go together! You don't have to worry about getting your space-age make-up to look right with Victorian-inspired dresses. Instead, most of everything looks straight outta the early 60's. So pair your cat-eye glasses with cat-eye make-up. Try fake lashes for extra oomph!

5. ASOS Floral Pants $72
Florals were seen all over the runways again for S/S 2012, but these are not your prissy mini-florals of years past. Think huge, bright, and kinda kitsch. Alexander Wang and Blumarine had some of the biggest, most over-the-top prints. Asos has some good ones, too!

6. J.Crew Tillary Bucket Tote $198
Ok, so neon is yet another trend that keeps coming back every spring. It just makes sense. It's fun, it's lively, and like masago adds such a pleasant pop to sushi, neon adds the nicest pop to an outfit. This leather bucket bag is a steal at just under $200. Also, check out the Celine-esque Tillary totes for $328.

Spring Accessories

Spring Accessories

Neon accessories seem to pop up every Spring. As much as I love them, maybe it's time to give something else a try. How about metallics? They're just as bold; just as eye-catching. Plus, gold and silver are technically neutrals, so neutral rules apply to them!

Try pieces that glitter, try pieces that shine, and if you get too overwhelmed or don't feel like spending money, try Essie's line of Luxeffect Nail Polish. I especially love the silver one over top of a peachy polish.

As promised, I will be having a Giveaway very soon! Check back on Wednesday to see what goodies I will be giving away to a lucky reader!

Spring Color Trends: Part 2

Spring Color Trend: Pastels

Pastels are still prominent, but at Jill Stuart, they were paired perfectly with candy brights.

It was easy to find similar pieces at affordable prices, since J.Crew has some nearly identical color combinations in their Spring line. If J. Crew is still too pricey, look to H&M's new S/S '12 line for fresh brights and sweet pastels.

Here are some other great pieces that follow this trend!

Cotton candy trousers? Yes please! Buy them at HM.com

Cotton Candy Pants

Pineapple sorbet and lemon jelly beans come to mind when I look at these pumps from Charlotte Russe:

Shoes!

Ok, I hate gumdrops, but I love this purse. Buy at Forever21.com:
