Look of the Day: Off-Shoulder Dress & Life Changes

I'm baaaaaaack! Whoo boy, what a year it's been. For real, though, we're already half way through it! I've spent the past 7 months doing many things:

- Coming to terms with our new Reality Show Government
-Listening to NPR obsessively
- Changing jobs!
- Buying a condo!
- Building elaborate paper flower arrangements
- Waiting for the NW winter to finally end

If you're not from Seattle, then you probably don't know that we had the wettest winter since the city started recording rainfall in 1895! As of February, we'd had more snow than Minneapolis. It was a dark winter, and needless to say, made it very hard to get outside for photos.

I thought I was going crazy in January, so I took a week to mope and then got myself started on some new projects. First off, I subscribed to Illustrator and turned some of my hand lettering into feminist greeting cards

In April, I joined the team at Wayward, a brand new Exploration-centered store based here in Seattle. It's been an adventure, for sure, and a learning experience! I'm one of the shopkeepers, but I've also had the luck of going on a vintage buying trip with our assistant buyer. That's right, we also carry a bit of vintage fashion!

The past couple of months, I've also been working like mad on crepe paper flowers. I build each bloom by hand and use a Cameo or punches to make the leaves. It takes forever, but is so incredibly rewarding. If you're in Seattle, you can see some of my work at Beats & Bohos in Greenwood.

Look of the Day: Olive Silk Skirt & Polka Dot Blouse

OMG, tomorrow is my birthday!! I usually throw a relaxed, but large get together down at the beach, but it seemed like too much work. I'll probably regret not getting all my friends together, but sometimes you just don't feel like being the center of attention. Instead, I'm going to have lunch in Ballard, with my mom and sister, then wander wherever I feel like wandering. After all, that's my favorite activity.

Look of the Day: Denim Dress & Miu Miu Sweater

street style, designer, miu miu, denim dress, short hair, vintage, fashion

I can't believe I passed on this sweater the first time I saw it. A first look, and it's just a giant, ridiculous sweater, right? Well, I went back to Value Village a few days later to return something, and it was still there. I looked a little closer and realized it was Miu Miu! It's funny (and a little embarrassing) how a designer name can change your mind about something. Honestly, though, Miu Miu makes beautiful pieces of amazing quality, so it's easy to look past the fact that I'm slightly drowning in this sweater. It smells like baby, Italian lambs. And this might be a little gauche to talk about, but the original price point is mad. Somewhere around $1,000!

This is not your run-of-the-mill cardigan. I'm in love with the shape.

The Dooney & Bourke purse is another recent thrift store find. It's in fabulous condition, so if you're looking for a new bag for Spring, visit my Etsy shop!

Look of the Day: A taste of the tropics

As luck would have it, my day off was sunny, so I spent a good portion of it photographing things for Etsy, like this Hawaiian print dress. I can't wait till it's actually warm enough to wear things like this for longer than 15 minutes.

I almost didn't buy this dress when I found it at the thrift store. It requires me to do a lot of sucking in, but it photographs so beautifully!

Look of the Day: Ikat Wrap Skirt & Fuzzy Sweater

I just listed this skirt in my Etsy store. I've had it for a while, and even though I love it, my closets are bursting at the seams! It fits a small to medium frame and the design is woven as opposed to printed. So nice!

Look of the Day: Duck Tails & Camel Plaid

Happy November! It's one of my favorite times of the year. The holidays are just getting started and Seattle is so pretty! Today was foggy and chilly, so Trevor and I took Otto for a walk around Greenwood. Later this week, I'll post a new set of photos for my Autumn in Seattle series. I missed out on the series last year. There was just too many other (not fun) things to focus on. I'm doing so much better this year, though, so stay tuned for some lovely Fall photos!

I'm in love with this 1960s reversible wool coat. It's a little big on me, so I've decided to list it on Etsy. If it doesn't sell, I won't be too upset ;)

The duck sweater is also for sale. It's one of those dorky ultra-WASPy ones from the early 90s. It fits so perfectly, especially considering how chunky the knit is.

Look of the Day: Black Vintage Wiggle Dress

vintage, etsy, lbd, damask, 1960s fashion
Happy Labor Day! I hope, like me, you're sitting in your pajamas, blogging, while your beloved yells at a video game. Ahhh, so nice to have him home.

My plan for the day was to take more photos for Etsy, list stuff, get organized, etc. But is that really what holidays are for? No. We have dinner with the in-laws later, so I'll probably just sit around until the last minute, then rush to get ready.

About the dress: it's from the early 1960s and in impeccable condition. Beautiful black damask is sewn in panels, which, back in the days of tailoring, made it easier to adjust. It's so classy and it's for sale in my Etsy store!

Fall Trend: Blanket Capes

red, cape, cloak, shawl, fall fashion, autumn trends

When my cloak count got to 4 (and my closet started to explode) I decided it was time to part with a couple things. It's a hard life I live.

The red one is just stunning, so I won't be disappointed if it doesn't sell. It's lightweight wool, so it's comfortable and easy to wear.

This pink & grey cape is an absolute favorite. I'm just too short for it. It's very thick and I get kinda lost. The colors, though!

Both are available in my Etsy shop.

Look of the Day: Plaid Blanket Cape

fall fashion, fleur d'elise, cloak, cape
Ahhh, it's finally below 70 degrees and Seattle's air has been washed clean by a couple days of actual rain. This is the Seattle I know and love. I sun came out for a bit yesterday, so I took the chance to style some pieces for Etsy and this new cape that I will not  be selling. It's really lightweight and perfect for layering.

If you've been looking for a blanket cape, check out my Etsy shop and stay tuned for at least one blog post featuring the ones I have for sale!

Look of the Day: Daisy Mini Dress

This dress is a little shorter than I usually wear, but it's been so unusually hot here that I've stopped caring. I wore it a lot in Palm Springs, too. I love it paired with the other yellows and patterns. It's pretty stretchy, so it fits like a glove. You want it? Well, you can buy it in my Etsy shop!

Look of the Day: Black Floral & Boyfriend Jeans

I bought these jeans at Value Village about a year ago, with the intent to sell them. All of a sudden, though, I've fallen in love with them. I really never thought I'd say "I love my ripped boyfriend jeans" EVER! The biggest benefit is the comfort. Also, I think it's pretty cool that all the rips and fades happened because these used to be someone's favorite jeans. They've even got a wallet fade on the back pocket. So killer.
