Look of the Day: Fur & Glitter

I can't get over these pictures. The lighting could have been so harsh and ruinous, but Bella is amazing. She took some stunning photos!

The vintage dress is from Bella's collection at Beats & Bohos. I styled it with a fur stole I inherited from my uncle's mother, and matching silver shoes and clutch. Perfectly over-the-top for ringing in the New Year! The diamond shaped earrings are a great deal on Oasap.

oops-a-daisies!

Well, it's nearly Spring, so I guess it's time for something new. How about some lovely new earrings and a new hair color?

In an attempt to dye my hair back to its natural, dark blond shade, I ended up brunette. It's actually even darker than the picture on the box! I'm pretty happy with it though; it's a gorgeous shade!

Believe it or not, I've only had my ears pierced for about 2 years. When it comes to earrings, I have a very small collection, especially in comparison to someone who has had their ear's pierced from a young age. I've been wanting a nice pair of diamond studs for fancy occasions, preferably canary diamonds. I have come to terms with the fact that I can't (and may not ever be able to) afford canary diamonds, but I found a lovely alternative on Anjolee.com.

I was a little overwhelmed with how many options I had, but I am completely happy with the outcome. I was able to choose the size, the metal, the style, and the type of stone for my earrings. I ended up with four prong princess cut citrine stud earrings in yellow gold. I absolutely love the color! They're the perfect size; not too tiny or too gaudy. If you want gaudy, though, you can order studs with gems up to 6.5 mm!

The earrings came perfectly packaged in a nice little enameled box.
Hope everyone is doing well! Spring is just around the corner!

COVET.

I covet pretty much anything made of tortoiseshell (both real and fake). I have to stop myself from buying those gorgeous French barrettes, because, let's be honest, I have no hair.

For this week's COVET. I found these beautiful vintage Chanel earrings. I'm not even sure what the price is... oh wait I just found it. Yup, £430! I was going to say that they are out of my reach simply because they are old and probably hard to come by, but that price adds another layer of unattainable!

Aren't they wonderful, though? They're bold, but not impractical. They're beautiful and timeless. These are classic Chanel. I found them on Atelier-Mayer.com ; a purveyor of wonderful vintage fashion based in London. The earrings were made in the 1970's, probably shortly after the trade of real tortoiseshell was banned under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). This means they are made of Perspex, an acrylic also known by the name "Lucite". If they were actual tortoiseshell, the price would probably be much higher.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Time

Garnet, coral, and sterling silver. Hanging on a Vileroy & Boch herb pot.

I wish I had more time for art, but earrings are better than nothing! I've made two pairs in the past couple weeks and also repaired some things for a friend. I have plans to start on Christmas gifts. We'll see if anything actually happens, haha.

Fancy fancy

I made a new pair of earrings. I half way constructed them some months ago, but then got a "Jeweler's block". They finally came together last weekend and I must say I am totally in love with them. Materials used: Gold-fill chain and findings, coral and Lapis Lazuli beads.

More earrings

So I've had my ears pierced for 1 year and 8 months. The idea grossed me out so much that it took me 24 years to get it done! When I finally went in I nearly passed out. I am a big baby when it comes to needles of any sort. Do any of you have this fear?

So for the past year and 8 months I've been making nothing but earrings, because I have a lot of catching up to do in that department.

This pair I made with gold fill and Malachite.

Earrings

I'm a fidgety person. Always have been. I rarely watch TV, but when I do, I need something to keep me occupied, otherwise I just get up and leave. This is even true when America's Next Top Model is on (I've been watching the re-runs). Last night, I had already finished my dinner by the time it was on, so I decided to make my friend Ashley a pair of earrings. I made her a pair for Christmas a couple years ago and she has been asking for more. I made two pairs for her to choose from.

The first pair is made from Sterling silver, dyed coral, and glass beads.

The second is shell and Sterling.
